Admin -> Calendar -> Allow events not linked to posts
That option has to be checked

I run another forum on SMF 2.0.15 and I can simply make an entry in the calendar WITHOUT having to make a post/create a topic.

Am I overlooking something here? How can I make such a simple entry in CAF?

The calendar is the same as SMF other than you can't setup custom holidays.

Another thing that I remember totally different in pase use of SMF is the calendar. It would appear I cannot simply put a date into the calendar without having to create a topic/a post about that, is that right?

At least that appears to be the default - and that is very unpractical.

How in the world do I simply put an entry ONLY into the calendar on CAF ?

I see your point, but either way: The date of registration is the most unimportant and uninteresting one. Just about anything other than that is meaningful to the general user.

Maybe leave that choice to the admin? Would that do?

its a decent request just gets complicated as people have the option to hide online status/when they last visited the site.

I see DATE REGISTERED. That is completely uninteresting. I would like to see the DATE LAST ONLINE instead. That would be meaningful.

I wonder why many CAF-functions default to completely unpractical settings. One of which is the member-list, which defaults to display the date of registration. Why this? Nobody is interested in that.

What would far more useful: date of last online

Just a thought.
