General Support / Can We Put Things Back To The Way They Were Before
« on: October 20, 2021, 06:56:35 am »

Went to the forum and there was an extra large add taking up a gigantic amount of space at the top of the pages.  So I paid for some add free credits to get rid of it.. But now there is  this odd white block of space running across the top was not there before.

Also, the CreateAForum info like, "report abuse", "RSS", "forum upgrades" links that use to be at the bottom of the forum are now suddenly at the top.. Can those links be moved back out of the way to the bottom of the forum like it was, and also remove that weird white block of space that is running across the top of all the page that was not there before ?

Well that whole idea was a waste of time.. Just found this for bypassing

"If your only intention is to copy text from a website that is blocking it, then you don’t need to disable anything. Just press “Ctrl + P” to open printing options and copy text from the print preview. Alternatively, you can press “Ctrl + U” to access a web page’s source code to look for the required text (Browser’s “Find” [Ctrl + F] option will help)."

For anyone interested. This code placed in header blocks all right click abilities.

Text is protected, and also the ability to inspect or view page source info.  At least I do not know if there is a way someone can get around this block to view and inspect page source.  If someone knows a way to get around the blocking of right clicks to view and inspect page source, please let me know..

I mainly want to protect all my text information from being copied. The downside is that it also removes the ability to right click and open a page into a second browser so that you do not loose the page your on, which is how I enjoy navigating any website.  But guess that is part of the trade off..

If I am missing something ?  Like if someone knows of a keyboard command or some other method people can use to over ride this blocking of right clicks, or being able to get around it to inspect and view page source, please let me know.  Because if I am wasting my time with this, I would remove it.

Any help or additional information greatly appreciated.

Code: [Select]

<script src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function () { $(this).bind("contextmenu", function (e) { e.preventDefault(); }); }); </script>

General Support / Re: Can We Block Copy and Pasting

I have read about those scripts, but they do not prevent someone from viewing the page source and copying from there.

Just thought you might have something different through our Admin..

Ok, thank you...

I may have figured it out.. I tried to be a little sneaky and put meta tags in the news section and also the footer, but colored the text to match the page background.  I think that "may have" caused problems, so removed all of those and resubmitted for indexing..

Also been using something called "Site247" for monitoring everything.. Prior to removing all those meta tags, it started giving me a notice that read, "Defacement, Content integrity check failed" (pic attached). Sort of like saying the forum had been hacked. Now that I removed those tags, everything seems back to normal again.

Not sure, but think the search engines did not like those camouflaged meta tags.

Would it help or can you replace the current site map with an updated one that I can submit ?

Just a thought ..

I changed the name for the forum, from "Chinese Shiwan Ceramic Discussion Forum", to "Shiwan Ceramic and Pottery Collecting Group Forum" over a week ago.

The search engines are not picking up on the new name.

I resubmitted the site map, and pinged the site a few times, but still not picking up on the new title.

Any ideas why CreateAForum or anyone else ?

General Support / How To Embed Videos
« on: February 11, 2021, 10:23:57 pm »
With the old SMF software, we simply pasted the utube video link into the post and it would show in the post.

Am I doing something wrong when trying to embed this link https://fb.watch/3BpseS6PHp/ , because after posting, it just shows the link and not the video.

You can grab your sitemap at Admin -> Forum Settings
Then submit to google directly via google webmaster tools.

Ok, got that done... Will keep an eye on it..

Thanks.. :)

Not sure why, but when I check to see if my forum is being indexed by searching, site:https://shiwanpottery.createaforum.com/ via Google, it says "Your search - site:https://shiwanpottery.createaforum.com/ -- did not match any documents

It seems like the forum is not being crawled / indexed at all.

And when I simply enter "Chinese Shiwan Ceramic Collecting Discussion Forum" into Google, it is not showing up on any of the returned pages at all..
