Hi again,
Please DISREGARD. I'm going to set it for deletion as I can't figure out the headers either. It does some kind of weird formatting when I input the code.
Thanks anyway, though.

General Support / Icons (Paper for new posts like on here)
« on: March 15, 2014, 08:48:29 pm »
Hi,
I originally wanted to post different icons 50x50 for each board to kind of give a visual of what it was about. However, I read some of the threads here saying this is a bad idea because of individual's load times and the file sizes.
Does the default setup show the "paper" icon like here on your forum or do I have to add that in somewhere? When I come here, the "paper" is either highlight or not showing which boards have new posts. I like that.
I'll keep trying to find the answer in the forums too.
Thanks!

Suggestions / For posters, not admins

I'm new here so forgive me if I step on toes. That's not my intention.
I am wading through all the pages to learn how to manage my new forum and it's frustrating to see a subject line with no information about the question.
I think it would be helpful to other readers to post relevant information in the subject line instead of just "help" or "help please." That forces people to open threads just to find out what's up.
This seems like a nice service and a great opportunity to have a forum with relative ease. Being a little grateful would probably be appreciated.

Hi there,
I took some screen shots. I start at the "Permissions" page, click modify, check/uncheck boxes (as desired) and click "Save" at the bottom.
However, when I logout (to make sure it looks right for non-Administrators) and log back in, the permission "counts" are back to higher numbers again.

Thanks for responding!

I haven't figured out why this keeps resetting to the defaults. I forgot to mention in the OP that I'm not changing the permissions in other places. I would understand the numbers changing in that case. It seems like it's not saving the edits although I'm not getting an error message when I save them.
I'll keep trying to figure it out.
Thanks,
MJ

Hi there,
I am new here and learning my way through setting up my new forum. I figured out the boards and categories and how to make someone a Moderator. I read the "Safeguard your forum" carefully and want to do things right. ;-)
I set the permissions for the different levels but each time I log back in they are reset back to higher number permissions. I have done it FOUR times now and just now it's reverted back. I click "Save" when I'm done on that page so I don't know where I went wrong.
I searched in the help topics here but didn't see this question or somehow missed it, if it exists already.

Thanks!
MJ

Hi,
I'm new to this site as well and I logged in and clicked on the Admin link. From there, click on "Features and Options" and after that click on "Boards" on the left hand side. On that page, you will see some links toward the top of the section (not at the very top, though). Click on "Create New Category" and you're ready to name and order them.
I know nothing about your server question.
Hope this helps!
MJ
