Create A Forum - Support Forums

I have only one computer. I have no cell phone. I have no wireless anything. I checked that I had no other browser open to my forum on May 1, 2019 at the time the hacker spoofed my IP address. It was a hacker trying to get into the forum. I know this because I was not even logged in to the forum when the "Guest" arrived minutes before I did.


I have reported the spoofer to Norton, as well. I have Norton Internet Security and a lousy sense of humor.



The hacker will have his hands full because I now have Norton's VPN running. My IP address is dynamic and my ISP uses a proxy server.


That won't stop the hackers from trying to mess up my forum, however. Today they locked my "Hydrocarbon Crooks Evil Actions" Topic. Now only Admins can post there (There is no way available way for an Admin to unlock a locked thread, as I have vented about here before).


I have done nothing to lock the topic, but this showed up when I made a reply today: Warning: topic is currently/will be locked! Only Admins and moderators can reply.

I quickly split the topic to a new "unlocked" topic thread and told the anonymous hacker that I would do that again and again, no matter how much trouble he would try to cause.

Those images showed a Giant Tick/rig with Exxon written on it on planet Earth and the Caption: " Frack this Planet, We ain't done Yet!" The moon is shown shedding a tear in one and the other has a closeup of Earth.

I have backups of most of my images but, sadly, not these two.

I just noticed when modifying this post that I can "copy image address" of the images that don't display. The first one has this address:

My gallery is being steadily hacked so the images won't show that criticize the Fossil Fuel Insdustry. NONE of the other images have ever been hacked, so you know who is doing the dirty work there. I have 1,775 images in the gallery. They occupy 23 pages. BUT, when you get to page 16, NO MORE IMAGES SHOW!


Can you help recover all these images? It gets old having to search for images in my computer to create a new image of. I do the best I can to keep up with the hacker(s), but old posts with said images that they hacked no longer have the impact they had, thanks to the hackers. I post on disqus many images and the hackers are steadily making my posts incoherent because the image is often used as a reference.

I have resorted to creating new images in the Admin area so, hopefully, the hacker cannot get to them. Nevertheless, I would love to recover all the images in my gallery that no longer show AND make the gallery hacker proof as well.


I want people to see and use those images for the good of humanity. We are in an Existential Catastrophic Climate Change Crisis and every bit of truth that challenges the biosphere destroying dirty energy status quo is important and necessary.


Please HELP! Greta Thunberg would agree!

The icon at the bottom I believe is just a legend doesn't mean whole board is locked. Each post would have a lock icon

There is no locked symbol on any topic so I guess I'm okay for now.

I have trimmed down the board permissions to the bare minimum (read and reply to posts and attachments allowed).


I have the permissions set as the default for all 11 (I forgot I had added a new board) boards.

I have seen this happen before. You are going to have check board level permissions, Permission profiles. Other than that I don't know.
Try editing the post and setting it to unlocked

Okay. I'll try that. I hasten to add that I did that before a few months ago. I split the thread to a new board, as well as a new topic. I then laboriously transferred about a year's worth of posts (posted prior to the split) to the new topic. I then deleted the locked topic.  That worked for a while.


Now, the hacker decided to lock everything. 😠


I have recently gone through all the board level permissions and stripped out any and all moderator privileges so even a moderator cannot modify or even moderate other people's posts. I also downgraded all moderators to member status.


I even took away the power to delete their own posts from members and guests, though of course, I still have the permissions set for them to view and post on all the boards and topics (which is now useless for posting because everything is locked by the hacker 😟).


At the moment, nobody is supposed to be able to moderate or modify posts or lock a topic but the Admin.

I wish the Admin had the power to just right click on the locked topic symbol to unlock it. Splitting a thread to allow posting works if you do not have some Hydrocarbon Hellspawn 🐉🦕🦖😈 watching to lock it after you have gone through all the work to transfer the posts.


That said, if you can provide me with a software tool where I can, after creating a new board with all the same topics that were locked, transfer quickly all the data, I could stay ahead of my detractors for a while.

Some clown has, AGAIN, locked, not just the one that severely criticises Fossil Fuel Industry Hydrocarbon Hellspawn attacks on people and the planet (which is what he did before when I came here and got somebody to unlock that topic), but EVERY topic on my forum!


I am the admin, but I cannot unlock a locked topic. support I don't know how the hacker is locking the topics. I have eliminated every single global moderator and moderator privilege position from the members in case one of the ten moderators somehow could do that. They are all members with no moderator privileges now. I am the only admin. Please come over and unlock all my topics.

I've tried replacing <a href=" with [ u r l  ] and </a> with [ / u r l ] but I'm missing something. 

I guess this isn't really a bug because it easily dealt with but it's kind of tricky so I'll pass it on to others. It may save them some grief.

If you place more than one image in the NEWS widget, the software doesn't know what to do with the second one so it tiles the header (you get two headers, one above the other with the two images you put in the news widget).

I say it is tricky because I thought this was caused by some CSS repeat type command in the style. The style CAN be modified to tile a header but, in this case, you can keep from having more than one header (a duplicate) hogging your layout by avoiding inputting more than one picture in the news widget.

Hi. I am a new Admin in a new "Create A Forum" forum. My Admin at a previous "Create A Forum" site got a little tired of me generating too much posting material and volunteered to set me up with another forum. All well and good.
But here is the comment he made that makes me think some settings may not be quite correct:
" With this new system, members can now manage their OWN Forums under their OWN rules free from my "ADMIN: Power of GOD on a Forum"  ability here on the Diner Forum.

The main Downsides here are that because these Forums are separate entities, you can't do a single search to find something, plus of course you ALSO have to register separately on these other Forums.  Also, Messages posted to any of the linked forums will not appear in the Diner list of recent comments or on the diner Blog either.  Also, Agelbert has to manage his own Forum."
So what is the problem?
My corner of the Doomstead Diner forum (Agelbert's NEWZ channel http://www.doomsteaddiner.net/forum/index.php?topic=559.1410) is getting over a 100 page views a day. MOST of the posts I publish there are teasers with links to my own forum,  http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/index.php . I post news and opinion pieces about 5 to 8 times a with only one or two NOT having links to my forum. Furthermore, my page views at the Algelbert NEWZ Channel are going up each day, not down.
YET, the articles in MY forum that I link to don't show hardly any page views. This doesn't make sense because more and more people are clicking on my NEWZ channel, obviously because they liked the content, only to find teasers to my own forum. If they weren't happy with that (deciding NOT to click on the links), my NEWZ channel page traffic would be dropping, not going up.
Could it be that the Create A Forum site I Admin is not getting a page hit count when someone comes there straight from the OTHER Create A Forum site because of some setting?
Finally, to provide evidence for my view that the problem is at http://www.doomsteaddiner.net/forum/index.php?topic=559.1410, I did get about 70 hits at http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/geopolitics/the-anti-demcratic-elite-fix-was-in-from-the-very-start-of-the-usa/ in one day from an article I linked to the Common Dreams Web site in the comments section about one of the Founding Fathers of the US Constitution. That proves the page counting works just fine coming from another web site.
Could you check into this? I really believe the folks on my original forum are reading my stuff but it is not getting counted for some reason.
NOTE: I have http://renewablerevolution.createaforum.com/index.php WIDE open as far viewing and posting on boards from guest on up so there is ZERO impediment for someone dropping by to click on a topic in a board.
