I agree about the heavy-handed censorship--the words ca-sino and ther-apeutic, for instance.

MS Speaks began nearly 10 years ago as a message board. It has been a Createaforum board since 2013. It is meant for persons with multiple sclerosis or for anyone with an interest in MS. New members are always welcome.

I happened to notice this. I am another one who would really like to be able to have somewhat longer topic titles--maybe about 20-25 more characters?

I see no point in starting a new thread on this topic. I have read your post about the censoring and was unable to figure out how to send a message to Createaforum as advised in your post, since the person who posted the post (Alex) appears not to have been here for many months and might not get it.
The word "therapeutic" keeps getting censored on my board:

The letters r-a-p-e are the problem. I don't know about the word grape but we'll see in this post.
Is there a way I can override the censor, aside from paying to get rid of the ads?

General Support / Problem with posting quoted material

Posting wasn't a problem on http://msspeaks.createaforum.com until yesterday. Suddenly a problem has developed.
When using the quoted material (with the "quote" icon),
I copy and paste material and put it in quotes in a post on my board but now what is copied is exactly as it appeared in the original--photos and links and different fonts, etc. I take all of these features out, and still bits of unneeded code are sprinkled among the resulting post.
I have to take every one of them out--and even then the spacing between lines isn't working right.
Is there a setting somewhere that I should change?
EDITED TO ADD: I've disabled the WSIWYG editor and that seems to have fixed the problem so far as I'm concerned. Please advise if I should not have done that.

I've found that the word ma*ijua*a gets bleeped out every time it's used in a post on my board. This is a support forum for persons with a chronic neurological disorder where medical ma*ijua*a is often discussed. There are work-arounds for this but it would be better if the word wasn't censored. Is there any way to stop the censoring?
You've stated that there isn't, but maybe the situation has changed with the passage of time?

My forum has existed since May 2006--so it's really over 7 years old, but I switched it over to createaforum only a month ago. The older board is incorporated into the newer one using links.

there seems to be no way of removing the envelope icon at the left of everybody's posts. Clicking on that icon leads directly to the person's e-mail even though the user has opted not to make his/her e-mail available. I have tried everything I could find in the Admin section to keep these e-mail addresses from showing but they keep showing up.
I'd appreciate any help.

Create A Forum Discussion / Maximum number of PMs allowed?

I'm new here but not new to message boards. Often there's some indication about the maximum number of PMs we're allowed to store. I can't find that anywhere here. Could someone please help? I've looked over the support board posts for quite a while and done a search but no luck.

I don't have a board on createaforum--but I do have an EasyphpBB board, and the way I insert Greek letters or other symbols in a post is to go to the Character Map on my PC. In WinXP, it's All Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools-->Character Map. You should see a chart with lots of symbols, including Greek letters. The way to copy and paste them is shown at the bottom of the chart.
