General Support / Default setting for notifications
« on: February 15, 2015, 10:23:09 am »
I've noticed that some members aren't responding to replies to their posts, and when I looked into it, the default setting for notifications is unchecked, so people have to opt in to receive notifications in their profile, or check the box on every post. Clearly, so don't know how to do that, so they are not seeing when others respond to their posts.
I could edit the profile of individual members, but I don't like to do that, as it potentially overrides their personal choice, and besides, it would take forever to go through them one by one.
Is there a Global setting to make the default setting for all members that they DO receive notification?
If so, can you please lead this amateur through the process for setting it?
Thanks.

Thanks. I've pointed them towards their ISP, and some of the setting tips in the link I posted.
If it's nothing at createaforum.com's end, that's all that matters I guess!  ;)

Thanks for the quick reply.
The most recent event was today, so sounds like there's still a problem?

Bugs / DNS Hijack by Syrian Electronic Army
« on: December 12, 2014, 02:27:17 pm »
Over the past couple of weeks, at least two of my forum members have been unable to reach the forum because of DNS hijacking by the so-called Syrian Electronic Army.
I know nothing about this kind of hijack, and I'm not sure where in the routing that the hijack occurs.
Is this something you are aware of, and is there something at your end that can be done to stop it?

I've been reading about it here, but it might as well be in Swahili for all the chance I have of understanding it... :-[
Is the problem with the users' ISP or somewhere else?
Thanks in advance!
