General Support / Buddy/Ignore List

Quick question: how is this supposed to work? I have reports that people on another persons "ignore" list are still sowing up.
Are the "ignored" persons post meant to be invisible to the person doing the ignoring? I have checked, and the "Enable Buddy/Ignore" function is activated. Just does not appear to be functioning correctly.

In our forums, we have initiated a temporary freeze on accepting new member registrations due to unexpected rapid growth.
As such, I was wondering: in order to prevent new registration applications from coming in, but continue to allow Guests to view approved boards, do I "Disable Registration" but leave the "ticks" in on the approved Guest Viewing approved boards?

How do I add things to the Calendar without them showing up as an event? For instance, the calendar comes pre-loaded with basic holidays and birthdays of member's automatically show up. But how would I add something like "Canada Day" and have it appear the same way as "Independence Day" does?
