How to I get it so that posts have the date on them? Even on the home page, it just says last post on.. then blank. Unless there is a post today, then it says last post by username today. How do I fix this please?

Is there one? A few of my members have written lengthy posts, then lost them and had to start over. Surely there must be a way of doing an intermittent or automatic save to prevent this? Any help appreciated, thank you.
