General Support / My site is a Track Fest

Seems that my site is a Track Fest, this was pointed out to me by a user who was very dejected about it so I decided to look into it myself.

All users of my site are being tracked by the following companies:


Google Adsense (This makes sense since Google Ads are active on the site)

But what about the rest ? and why ?

Viglink

Quantcast

MediaMath

AdNexus

Doubleclick

Media Innovation Group

Collective Media

Cross Pixel Media

Can my site be removed from these trackers ? since it's a little unsavoury for myself and my forum users and I find it rather embarassing to be honest. What can be done to remove these trackers ?

PS.. I don't want to recommend blocking software to my users

All images hosted on Createaforum are taking forever to load (if they load at all) is there something wrong with the image server ?

Hey CreateAforum

Social networking URL's in member profiles are broken.

When clicking the link instead of

Code: [Select]
http://www.youtube.com/user/xxx

The forum tries to send users to

Code: [Select]
http://www.youtube.com/http://www.youtube.com/user/xxx

Same with Facebook, Twitter etc

Thsi problem is for all user including my own profile (Admin)

It use to work fine but now it's broken and no changes have been made to the profiles.

Are you guys having some problems ? my site along with the support forum and other createaforum sites keep going down.

I've checked on Down-or-not and that's saying the sites are down too. Is this fixed now or will it be ongoing ?

General Support / Lost domain can't login

Hey guys. For some unkown reason I seem to have lost my free domain and it has been re-registered by someone else.




Now I cannot login at all as it just redirects to the domain (which I have lost, which is now some survey rubbish)


Please can you remove my domains and reset to original so I can log in please.

PS.. is it usual for dot tk domains to spuriously go missing like this ?

General Support / Some folks from China cannot access my site

Hi Createaforum. Would it be possible to make an exception for my site so it does not block any IP's from registering or browsing the forums I have created please ?

I can't work with the people I need to if they cannot access or register.

I just wanted to add that by opting out of the restricted IP blocking that I am fully aware of the potential spamming issues and I take full responsibility for keeping this under control.

I have several staff who will actively watch out for spamming along with myself.

I have registration restrictions in place with questions upon registration as well as the captcha system.

Should a problem become difficult to manage in the future, I will request to opt back in to the restricted IP blocking system. (if possible)

General Support / Custom Icon issue

Anyone know what causes this ? Been happening off and on for a while now. Clearing Cache doesn't fix it. I'm wondering why it only happens on a single category and not the rest, is it a known bug ?

Tried in Firefox and Chrome.. no joy, Just sits with a 'Loading' bar at the top of screen.

This is on my test account. Works fine as adminstrator

General Support / Post formatting

Why is it that if I or anyone else tries to copy our own review posts from other forums, it completely screws up the formatting ?

It's getting unbearable and I cannot find a way around the problem despite hours of searching.

Even PHPBB forums don't have this issue, so why does SMF ?

Short of converting direct to BBcode (which is pretty useless if you convert from html as it loses all images) it simply will not work without completely reformatting the entire review.

Am I missing something here ? is anyone else having this problem ? is there a solution ? short of moving to a different forum provider ?

Create A Forum Discussion / Collapsible boards by default

Dear Sirs


Would it be possible to give us an option in the Admin panel to make certain boards collapsed by default please ?


I want to make an extensive category listing for useful information and each sub category needs to be individualised.




Unfortunately right now if I do this, any guests or new users will see a plethora of categories in a long list which they most likely will be disillusioned by.


If I could collapse the parent category by default with an admin option, it would make this task 1000 times more fruitful.

Advertise your forum / The Flashlight Emporium

Hey guys,


I just thought I would take this opportunity to share my new forum with a special thanks to Create-A-Forum.


This is my very first forum and it's been a steep learning curve, especially trying to figure out how to design and implement changes (difficult for a novice) :D


Thank to you guys and a lot of reading (and mistakes) I think I have it to a standard which for the time being (while I learn more) should be suitable for continued growth.


The naysayers suggest that in this day and age with so much competition, that new forums die a death fairly soon after birth.




Hopefully, with a good initial memberbase and some good fortune, I can prove them wrong :)




Feel free to join up and share the fun! It will get better I promise :D
