Is it possible to change my forum name, so certain old members cannot find it by the URL thanks.
You can change the forum name, but not the url for the forum, unless you purchase a custom domain name.
However: There are several options that you can use as an admin to protect your current members and their information from people you don't want to be able to access it.
• If the old members are still members, you can remove them/their accounts with an IP address ban that will prevent them from being able to create a new account unless they are very tech savvy.
• You can adjust the privacy settings in your forum for what guests are able to see. In our forum, we have 4 levels of visibility:
- What guests can look at
- What members with fewer than 5 posts themselves can see (so that those who join but don't contribute are limited away from the most personal/vulnerable things people say or want to be known by anyone who doesn't have "skin in the game" as it were)
- Members with 5 or more posts have visibility for everything except the next section...
- A board/section for mod discussion only, which is only viewable by the mods.
Note that for the last two, when I say visibility, what I mean is not "can see thread names but can't open them and see what's in them" but rather those boards and their content don't even show up for people who aren't allowed to access them.
