Title: Can we set up to e.mail to members when there are posts on topics?
Post by: Ray Bell on February 20, 2021, 07:25:34 am
There are a few things involved here...
Some forums I'm on allow you to be notified of a post on a topic on which you've posted. I think we've got that option.
Others send out a weekly 'digest' of topics which are moving along.
Still others send out notifications to all members whenever there's a post been made.
Can we do these things?

The first one is an option Some forums I'm on allow you to be notified of a post on a topic on which you've posted. I think we've got that option.

There is no digest option currently

The last one users can click the notify button on each board to get notified of posts in a board.

I'm afraid you've confused the last one...
I meant that every member would get a notification every time anybody posted on any thread.

Nevertheless, is there any prospect of getting the 'digest' happening?

No there is no built in way. They would have to subscirbe to each board on your forum.

A digest is complicated to build, it would be nice to have but is not any near term plans.

It would be advantageous to me to have that as all the members I will draw to our (family) forum will be more used to Facebook...
I'm keen to try to wean them off that.
Maybe I could 'harvest' all the e.mail addresses of them as they join and prepare a little e.mail every couple of days by myself.
Getting them to the forum in the first place will be hard enough, keeping them looking at it will be the next step.
