How do I check space available for the Gallery?

It is the same limit as attachments and avatars.
So if you have 10mb for attachments. Then you have 10mb for gallery.

So 20mb total.

It only tells me what is in the attachments. Is Avatars the Gallery?

No. There currently is no spot that tells how much gallery space is usage.
