Hi, I set my little forum up to be private so that only members can read the threads.
I only have 11 members but at times the stats can state things like '17 online'
When I go to my Home Page I can see 'Guests' then click on their IP address for eg and it says 'Viewing the board index of Name of my forum'
I'm confused. Please could someone put some light on this for me?

I mean if we log out we can't see anything so surely a guest couldn't?
But I am not computer literate enough to know how this site works, can people just search random threads, see the Home page but nothing else?

That is normal they can't see anything as guests if you have permissions set correctly.

Sorry, I know you are busy. I 'believe' I have set the permissions correctly but if you have time please would you tell me step by step what I should have clicked?
I'm not great with things like this :( So my apologies in advance but you will need to talk to me like I am a 7 year old :D

Hi it is the 'modify each group' which I need help with.
This is what it says at the moment. What do I need to be ticking?
Guests (?) n/a 7 Modify
Regular Members (?) 11 45 Modify
Administrator (?) 1 (all)
Global Moderator 0 56 Modify
Moderator (?) n/a 28 Modify

Your board is private. A user would have to log into your board to see any posted items, unless you've kept one Category visible.
Down in the 'stats' box, the "User's Online" will always show a value. Search bots, members of your forum that have logged out but are still on the page will register a hit on the 'guests online' value.
