Title: Censored words?
Post by: hashash on September 12, 2013, 11:24:55 pm
We have a pretty unique bunch of guys on my forum, and language is pretty normal. Today I looked at it and all cuss words are starred out. I didn't do this, nor did any of my mods, any suggestions? Did I get hacked?

We censor out words due to advertisers mainly google does not want them to appear. To disable the censor words requires either ad free credits or an ad free plan.

So if I pay for the forum, Google doesn't mind if we swear?

BBCode can be used as a tool for bypassing.

If this ever happens on your forum, you have the right to issue a warning, or ban them.

There's a person who always advertises her site on mine. I censored the site's name ( thegamerswhorp.createaforum.com , www.thegamerswhorp.createaforum.com , http://thegamerswhorp.createaforum.com , http://www.thegamerswhorp.createaforum.com) but I tested it and it does not change the word.

Go into the Admin Configuration, look for a button that allows you to censor words, all I know.

I see no point in starting a new thread on this topic. I have read your post about the censoring and was unable to figure out how to send a message to Createaforum as advised in your post, since the person who posted the post (Alex) appears not to have been here for many months and might not get it.

The word "therapeutic" keeps getting censored on my board:

The letters r-a-p-e are the problem. I don't know about the word grape but we'll see in this post.

Is there a way I can override the censor, aside from paying to get rid of the ads?

No way to overrride the censor without ad view options.

A while back a similar issue came up, and there was a solution. I was hoping that the word  the-r-a-p-e-utic could be taken off the list of censored words as well:http://support.createaforum.com/8/censoring-my-forum/msg12806/#msg12806 (http://support.createaforum.com/8/censoring-my-forum/msg12806/#msg12806)

Can't do specific words since the word in there is part of the censor list.

There is now way around it unforuntaly due to google.  You can buy an ad free plan though which will allow it.
