Title: Board Topic descriptions, or not ?
Post by: WholesaleChat on July 07, 2013, 08:39:00 am
Under each board you can enter a short description of that topic. Most forums do this

Is it really necessary ?

I mean, most of the time you're duplicating what is said in the board/topic title, using different words.

Don't you feel that this clutters the forum and makes it more difficult for viewers to find what they want. Granted, very short descriptions look OK, but shouldn't the title 'say it all' ?

Or is the idea to keep topic titles very short, with a decent description underneath.

Which method is best for SEO ? Do the topic titles get more exposure than the description ?

Long descriptions are better for SEO since it describes the page more and is easier to get indexed

so, to avoid text clutter, a quick , short board title, then a decent size description underneath ?

ie

Ford Cars Photos
Post photos of you Ford car in this category

or  are long titles required for SEO too ?
