Notifications Issue
« on: February 06, 2016, 12:03:14 am »
None of my users are receiving notifications and reply notifications are on by default. This is a new forum that has not gone live yet, so I discovered this while testing it out. Is there some other setting I need to turn on? It is a parked domain, I read a post from 2011 that said this could be because of that.

Still not working..I can see Notify is on for the user on the test post. I reply from a test user and the notification is not sent.

I don't even get notified on replies to this thread either. We just paid to remove ads, but this is not useable without notifications. Is there anything else that could be causing this problem?

What exact steps are you doing? Are you replying in a quick reply field?

I just tested on my demo site and I got replies when i hit notify button in the thread then someone else replied.

Also checked doing profile route turning in on my default and that worked as well on my test site.

I have tried several test topics from test user #1. Test user #1 creates the topic. Test user #2 clicks on the Reply button at the bottom of the screen and replies to the topic. No notification is received though. Notifications are on for test user #1 for the topic (and on by default in the profile).

This is a new forum, we just started test posting over the 2 weeks It's a parked domain forum - alohatest.createaforum.com points to forum.alohafreight.com. I had received a notification for a reply to my post on the General Support board, back on 12/9/15. Now I don't receive notifications for any of my posts on the General Support board either.

I switched the email address to Gmail in the profile, and I receive the notification. However, we still don't receive anything to alohafreight.com. Our spam filter quarantines anything it detects as spam, and it's not there. I called support for Spam filter hosting, and they said they don't see any emails coming from createaforum.com.

Is there any troubleshooting that can be done over there to see if any notifications have been sent to alohafreight.com? Sorry for the trouble...we just really want to use the forum and paid to remove the ads.

That was it. I set SPF check to quarantine instead of block, and now I can see the messages. We just did a test thread, and the notification came through 3 hours later. Does it normally take that long? Thanks for the help.

Should be instant in most cases or at most 10 to 15 minutes.

All the test replies today have been instant, so it's good now. Not sure what happened yesterday.

One last question on notifications - is it possible to turn Notify on by default for a board? Any user with permission to the board would have notifications on by default for it.

Thank you.
