Adding a required entry field to the forum registration process

I would like to add a required field..... [Device Serial #].....to the registration process of our forum.  Is this possible?

Yes it is.
Turn it on and save first under Admin -> Advanced Profile Fields


Then after saved to go admin -> features and options -> Profile fields.
