Posting Videos (Multiple Souces)
« on: August 12, 2011, 04:12:31 pm »
Currently I am only able to post videos that are hosted by YouTube. But I would like to be able to post from different host sites like Hulu, DailyMotion, MSNBC, etc....

Whenever I post anything other than YouTube, it breaks the entire post. So, will there be an update to include additional host sites?

Thanks

Well, with YouTube it's easy. But when it comes to other sources such as Dailymotion, Hulu, etc....I will try both the embed and Address bar codes (links) to see if that works. It doesn't. And by "breaking", I mean that if there is text that I have typed in the same post, half of it is missing or lost all together after posting with any other video code not related to YouTube.

Well the auto embed only works with YouTube so posting a link wouldn't make it appear in the post.

How are you trying to embed it?

What's your forum URL? Can you give me the link to a topic that you've tried posting a video in?

Some embed codes will work (for you as Admin only) by using the html bbcode tags.  You would do it this way:

Code: [Select]
[html]
put the code here
[/html]

Okay, here's what happened with each post.

With Dailymotion, using the embed code and placing in between the html tags, it works. It works to well actually. What happens is that it will post the video twice, stacking on top of the other. Weird.

With Hulu, it works fine. No problem there.

With CNBC, it doesn't work with links. There were no embed codes so I tried the link instead.

I will try other sites and see how they fare.

You mention that this is Admin only. Is there anyway to set it up so that any forum member can post from multiple sites and not just me?

No...   the html bbcode tags can be used only by the Administrator.
The Mod that is installed for embedding the videos is set up for Youtube videos only.  He would have to install a different Mod that handles other sites codes to do that.

We still have a problem with any video not Youtube, the code that is.I was looking around for a Countdown clock one can add to a website. Find plenty that will generate code, but do we have a way to add it to a post?

This was presented to me from forum member. Is this possible, if so, I do I implement it?

Are there any plans for other videos to be posted within CAF other than You Tube videos? The natives at my forum are getting restless. I'd like to see something done where we can post from other sources.
