How to order badges

I am making custom badges and disabling all of the default badges.
How does the forum rank each badge on forum posts?

I intend to make each badge always show up between others. (eg, badge 1 will always be highest - 2 the next highest, etc)

What I am seeing early on is the forum is placing my new badges in odd positions. I make badges 1, 2, 3, 4 in that order and the end result is 3, 1, 2, 4

There currently is not an option to order badges. They are shown based on the date earned.
