My site is a Track Fest
« on: July 06, 2013, 05:01:33 pm »
Seems that my site is a Track Fest, this was pointed out to me by a user who was very dejected about it so I decided to look into it myself.

All users of my site are being tracked by the following companies:

Google Adsense (This makes sense since Google Ads are active on the site)

But what about the rest ? and why ?

Gigya

Viglink

Quantcast

MediaMath

AdNexus

Doubleclick

Media Innovation Group

Collective Media

Cross Pixel Media

Can my site be removed from these trackers ? since it's a little unsavoury for myself and my forum users and I find it rather embarassing to be honest. What can be done to remove these trackers ?

Thanks guys

PS.. I don't want to recommend blocking software to my users

Can't be removed. That is a condition of keeping a free forum with us. They are all ad networks, intergrations, or site trackers.

If they are paranoid about being tracked they need to stay off the internet.

Unlimited Ad Free plan will remove the tracking ?

It's nothing to do with the tracking per se as everyone knows they're likely to be tracked sooner or later unless they install anit-tracking software.

It falls into the realms of Forum Etiquette, and good Forum Etiquette certainly does not force tracking cookies upon thier users.

No. It would remove some of them but not all
These for sure would remain.
Gigya - Social networking
Viglink - Link revenue
Cross Pixel Media - stat tracker
Quantcast - stat tracker

I would suggest to disable cookies in the browser as workaround not sure if the four will work well though.
