Infolinks making our forum unusable...
« on: February 05, 2020, 06:00:29 am »

I'm a longtime createaforum host, who totally understands the need for ads or paying ad-free. Never had a problem with the banner ads on top or bottom, and can't afford to pay for ad free.

But lately "infolinks" showed up on my forum out of nowhere - I thought it was a virus at first. It blocks text, appears as a pop up any time you click on ANYTHING, and makes the forum run so slowly that half our members are blocking all javascript to try to use the forum, and the other half are threatening to leave because the forum is "unusable."

Other createaforums I am on don't pay for ad free and just have banner ads...

Please advise! Is there any way to have banner ads but not infolinks?

We add infolinks to international sites or sites that are private since that is against our terms of service anway

What constitutes an international site? If we have a member who logs in from an international location?

Also does this mean if we open registration so anyone can register that infolinks will go away? (We currently have it set to admin approval because of trouble with bots.)

Happy to do whatever we need to to comply and get rid of infolinks so our forum is functional.

We’ve taken away admin approval requirement so anyone can register (this not a private board.)

Not sure what you mean by international site? Do we need to not allow any members outside the US?

Any advise for what we can do to further comply and thus get rid of infolinks?

Really hope you’ll work with us on making our forum usable.

It's not really based on registration approval.
Main is how many topics/posts are hidden from guests. Meaning board categories without the private board option ordered.
And if the site's language is other than english without a language package being bought.
