Forum Closure
« on: September 13, 2011, 09:05:17 pm »
A thought just occurred to me last night and it's a valid concern. Let's say for whatever reason, that CreateAForum ceased to exist and no longer had this Support forum and updates and whatnot. For whatever reason, ya'll just walked away. Would that directly affect those of us that are using the Forums on our own? So if you "unglugged" on your end, will it affect our site in anyway?

Yes, I'm aware I will get a "we will never leave CreateAForum" response as it's the logical thing to say. I'm just going for a "what-if" scenario here because my biggest concern is creating a wealth of content with huge following only to find out that it could end at any moment.

Okay. Resume what you were doing.

Yes all your sites and everything would be gone. That is the nature of the web something that google does recently when they buy out websites they shut them down. Same thing happened with geocities. If someone just walked away there would be nothing that could be done. I myself have been doing this since 2005 so far.

They would disappear with no trace of ever having existed or just stop functioning?

CreateAForum is 6 years old? I did not know that. I thought this was a new thing.

Well your question is already answered above but running a good server does cost a lot of money so donating and stuff will help keep this service alive.
All codes I make are tested on the latest version of Google Chrome and upon request of other browsers.

SMF For Free and Creataforum are two separate services, both run by the same guy.
The forums on SMF for Free use the 1.* branch of the smf software.
The forums on Createaforum use the 2.* branch of the smf software.
