Censoring my forum?
« on: April 02, 2012, 04:37:00 pm »
This is  ridiculous, imo

Just noticed it this morning when I typed a pretty common mild profanity ON MY OWN FORUM.

I purchased domain and used you people as a test for first year. Now I have to pay to have this removed? You're kidding right? I am a advocate of free speech and to have someone throw a censorship at me makes me wonder if I chose the wrong free forum account.

We censor words that are advertisers do not wish to be on the forums according to google. This is a policy we had to take affect otherwise we could not offer the service for free. I dealt with in the past and have lost a large amount of income due to those issues in that past.

Censoring is removed though if you have purchased ad free credits.

and the irony here is I choose to not have ads or monetary gain on my forum and meanwhile google, who owns youtube, allows all sorts of video/text that could be considered vulgar/obscene on their own servers

Unfortunately for publishers we have to deal with tougher rules I have been burned a couple times already so this why this policy is in affect. If you have ad free credits on your forum there is no censoring.

Basically the decision isn't ours, as stated above, the advertisers demands the censor in effect.
All codes I make are tested on the latest version of Google Chrome and upon request of other browsers.

I've found that the word ma*ijua*a gets bleeped out every time it's used in a post on my board. This is a support forum for persons with a chronic neurological disorder where medical ma*ijua*a is often discussed.  There are work-arounds for this but it would be better if the word wasn't censored. Is there any way to stop the censoring?

You've stated that there isn't, but maybe the situation has changed with the passage of time?
