Cannot Access Forum
« on: April 03, 2021, 02:25:48 pm »
Hello, I wish to express my sincere gratitude for this forum and the services offered. I recently created a forum and pointed a subdomain to it. Everything appeared to be working fine until this morning when I decided to click on "Verify this URL". I saw "1" and then clicked on "Update the URL". Now I can't access my forum.

Do I just wait for a while or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Yes should take about 24 hours. What is your forum url?

Thank you very much.

Forum URL is forums.fathersloveoutreach.com.

A second (possibly related) question please. Do I need to purchase the SSL upgrade in order to make the Site accessible via Chrome without errors. Was getting the usual "Not secure" error when I was trying earlier today. Will this SSL upgrade affect the main domain fathersloveoutreach.com? Is there a cheaper way to buy one that will cover both the main domain and all subdomains including the one I am pointing to my forum created here?

Use http://forums.fathersloveoutreach.com to access your forum no www. SSL upgrade it to make all the link start with https:// and removes the warning.
A cheaper/free option would point your domain to clouldflare and they give free ssl when they handle dns records.

Hello, I activated a free wildcard SSL certificate that I have on my domain fathersloveoutreach.com and all subdomains. It is working on the domain but not on the subdomain. Please, do you have to alter anything at your end for my forum to now point to https://forums.fathersloveoutreach.com?

I contacted my domain registrar IONOS and a support staff is telling me that by creating a CNAME on the subdomain that points to another site, it disables the SSL on the subdomain. Is his explanation sound? For some reason, I don't buy it.

For SSL on our site requires ordering SSL package we have to setup SSL on our side which is separate for your domain.

The free option would be setup cloudflare and use their SSL for everything and your sites dns.

Thank you very much for your prompt response. I have set up my domain with Cloudflare. Do you still have to disable SSL at your end so it can work with theirs?

Update: Everything is working fine now. I think it just needed a little time for the changes to kick in. Thank you very much. I can now “close off” this topic. 😊
