Automatic pruning (?) of topics and private membergroups
« on: January 11, 2012, 07:29:02 pm »
Hello,

Recently set up my forum and need a bit of help. Three questions, problems:

1) I have some sections that are additional to the core subject of the forum and are more or less general chat for the members. How do I make these sections automatically erase the posts? I would like, if possible, to set them so that if a topic has not been posted in for a month then it is automatically removed without me having to go through all the posts every month.

2) I have set up a private section and allowed access through a membergroup. The problem is that one of my moderators is in the group and the bit above his name is showing the membergroup and the stars that go with that whereas what we really want is for the blue stars and the moderator group to show up. How do I get the moderator membergroup to override the other membergroup?

3)Although I have restricted access to the other group to private, the group name shows up above the members names. I would rather have the group truly private so that people who are not in it don't know it exists at all and don't keep pestering to join it - how do I do this?

Thank you

For #1 there is not automatic topic pruning. There is an option under forum maintenance to prune old topics greater than x amount of days.

Thanks. When you say x amount of days, does that mean from the date the topic was started or when it was last posted in?

Any ideas on what I can do about the other two questions?

I believe it is the day the topic was last posted in.

2. If it is global moderator. I think there is an option under Themes to hide post based groups which will remove duplicate group titles.

3. No way to do that unless you manually assign each person to a secondary group then that secondary group is hidden.
