Style Modify Not Taking Affect

When I Modify my CSS on the style it won't take afffect why is that

It looks like you have to create a new style, Just copy the style you want to edit make the edits in notpad or an editor then install as new style.

Sorry folks i have tried for hours messing with this and it just does not modify the style.
Has anyone managed to modify?

Trying to modify the style background color..
I also tried text color but nothing changes..
I changed the hex colors and clicked save style then when i open the css again no edititing has taken place..
I am an old man not computer savvy so forgive the quality of my post.
Us old timers need clarity

I had that problem what you need to do is copy the updated style to a new style and give it a different name now when I edit a style it updates without creating a new one

No didn't help...
what is needed here is a comprehensive start to finish instruction..
That way 90% of the posts on this forum would not be here.
