Creating a forum quite hard in it self being an old timer but trying to get known is even harder. Only a couple of us posting at the moment. I have been more or less posting on my own at one stage I couldn't even find it. but with all the posts and pictures I have now got it up to page 6 on yahoo. If some of you could post for just a short time it would be most helpful Cheers Hugh http://ukpensioners.createaforum.com/

What I generally do first focus on content setting up topics/categories for your board. After you have some decent content. Invite any friends or people in your industry that you might now to signup and join the discussion.
Then over time link up with other forums/sites out there and that will expand your reach. Overtime you will be well indexed in the search engines and then people will just find your fourm.

Good luck with your forum.
