What to Add/Change next?
« on: July 20, 2010, 09:39:42 pm »
Looking for ideas/suggestions on what to add/change/fix next.

The more ideas the better so that gives me a direction to go on.

Thanks

Is there any way to make a system that will allow an admin to basiclly copy a topic to another section of the forum? The reason being is that i run an computer support forum and i like to pin topics to the operating system sections but some of those are the same thing and it takes me a while to add a new topic to each board then copy the text and so on... :)

Hi All,

is it possible for:

1) The Arcade link in the menu to not be visable when the arcade is not installed like the Gallery etc as if these are not installed the link is not in the menu but the arcade link is in the menu when not even installed

2) Custom Tabs option thats in smfforfree to add items to the menu.  also option to remove items in menu ie help, search.

3) is it possible to add a option to create a dropdown menu to appear in the top right of the forum (by the shrink header button) with an admin screen to add and remove menu items.

4) Admin Notepad.

5) Pre made Basic Themes to select from style menu like on smfforfree.  (would the theme codes from smfforfree work here if not is there an easy way to convert them)

6) Codes,  Will the codes from smfforfree work here.

7) SMF Links

Sorry for the long list, just thinking what was missing from smfforfree.  I still think that smfforfree and now createaforum is the best free forums on the internet.  keep up the good work, i understand its not always easy.

Geraint

1. Arcade tab can be disabled under core features if you uncheck arcade is enabled and save

5. Styles will need to be converted in order for them to work

6. Some codes may work depending on what they do or what code they are searching for.

Could you make it so that there is an easy way to change the icons such as new topic and the reply button?

There is an option to move any topic at the bottom of every topic, in the bottom right corner of the last post of a page. Or you can modify any post and click the Additional Options link and move the topic like that.

I second that, one less code to make xD

I would like an Admin Notepad, so I can just save my Headers/footers into it, as a back up.
Code: [Select]
//Hint hint :)
if(/action=profile;u=(.*);sa=UserPage/i.test(location.href)){
var number = RegExp.$1;
var username = (smf_id_member !== "0") ? document.getElementById("upper_section").getElementsByTagName("li")[0].getElementsByTagName("span")[0].innerHTML : void(0);

I second the need/want for an admin notepad, and I know there is a package that is compatible for 2.0 RC3. I use it on my home only hosted forum :)

An easy way of doing that it by modifying a topic and to copy/paste it in a new place. That's just if you don't want to do all of the HTML and BBC codes again..

Maybe you can add an FTP server to every forum...

Hi x86cam-

These forums are modified versions of SMF that allow the forum service to host thousands of free forums. Because this is a free service, CAF does not allow you access to things like the databases and forum files for a number of reasons. There are many alternatives to things that FTP access would give you- a style editor for CSS, Codes for Headers and footers, etc.

I hope this clears some things up for you.
